The XML.org Focus Area on e-Health serves as a central clearinghouse for information on
XML and related standards for the healthcare industry.
Content for this resource is provided by the Health Level 7, one of several ANSI-accredited Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) operating in the healthcare arena. Most SDOs produce standards (sometimes called specifications or protocols) for a particular healthcare domain such as pharmacy, medical devices, imaging or insurance (claims processing) transactions. Health Level Seven's domain is clinical and administrative data. HL7's mission is to: "To provide standards for the exchange, management and integration of data that support clinical patient care and the management, delivery and evaluation of healthcare services."
HL7 offers editorial management of this Focus Area in a goodwill effort to provide an unbiased information resource to the community at-large. XML.org content does not necessarily represent an official position of OASIS, nor of any of its members or the governments and other organizations with which they are associated. (The Cover Pages announcement concerning the OASIS international health continuum technical committee is available here. The OMG Health Domain Task Force is available here.)
